B.base: a body based space
B.base is a new pilot program by 4bidgallery. It is based on the body, and how this is a source for work through different mediums of art.
It might feature an exhibition, a discussion between artist, choreographer and a neuroscientist, a screening of a dance film and a live performance.
The body is the subject of the events.
The aim of B.base is to take the moving body on the edge of its territory in dance by questioning how artists working with different mediums represent it, use it as a tool, admire it or make it the subject of their work.
When: B.base will happen once every two months, over 4 days (Wednesday to Friday), alternating with Highs & Lows, evening of performance which has been running for the past three years.
What happens on each day:
- Wednesday: opening of the exhibition 18-21h
- Thursday: “choreoscreening”, a screening exploring links between body/film as a means to choreograph. 19h
- Performance of a body-based piece that explores connections between different medias (technology, science, other forms of art) 19h + Discussion with the participating artists and an external guest from the field of science, journalism, other. 20h
