Waiting for The Tide to Turn

– perspectives on the politics of migration

Enter a caption

Artist : Brigitte Borm

Style: Art exhibition / audio-video installation / politics of migration

“Waiting for the Tide to Turn” reflects on the role and representation of volunteers who are assisting refugees in Lesvos. Having become a volunteer herself, Brigitte Borm explores this practice of helping at the external borders of the EU. Beyond humanitarianism then, the exhibition points at volunteers’ experiences in their multi-vocal complexities. Through audio, moving image, quotes and photography the visitor is invited into a subjective space to rethink the heroic imagery surrounding volunteers – as well as dominant perspectives on the politics of migration, refugees and global inequality in freedom of movement.
